GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY: This position will lead the Assembly departments operation.
Responsibility will include directing the team to drive improvement in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and budget compliance as well as employee development.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading team(s) with the above listed goals.
This position will report to the Production Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and develop scheduling systems for department operations.
Develop staff and standardize skill/ training requirements for the efficient operation of the department.
Responsible for the safe operation of the department.
Responsible for the delivery of components meeting the customer’s needs in delivery schedule, quantity, and quality.
Assist team leads and employees with trouble shooting etc.
Train, educate and evaluate employees along with motivating and coaching.
Assist in developing and implementing department budgets.
Oversee and organize the workload of the department.
Supervisor of the department on all aspects of the operation.
Complete all required documentation within established guidelines and appropriate timeframes.
Collaborate with other departments.
Ability to prioritize workload as new work comes into the department.
Maintain compliance with OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Work independently and with management to create/implement processes and procedures.
Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with team leads.
Lead and participate in cross-functional teams and department meetings.
Interview and hire all new employees for department staffing requirements.
Strong customer first attitude with the ability to retain employees.
Delegate projects as needed Other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: Prefer 2 - 3 years of proven leadership in a Lead/Supervisor position and/or previous management experience.
Experience in the principles of lean manufacturing (preferred).
Experience with manufacturing assembly lines.
EXPERTISE: Understand and support company policies and procedures Proficient in the use of Google software application along with the Microsoft suite software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access Highly organized, detail oriented with good problem solving skills.
Excellent communication skills – written, listening and verbal.
Ability to work well with other departments to accomplish necessary goals within the company.
Excellent customer service skills.
Team building knowledge Advanced understanding of specific department operations.
Able to use tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Handles change well, and are able to implement new processes/procedures to the next level.
High attention to detail.
Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma required.
AA or BS Degree a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires working in an office environment, will be seated in a posture position.
Required to work on the Production floor for 8 - 10 hours per day.
Will utilize a computer terminal for periods of time, and phone use using a handset or headset.
Required to visit other departments on a needed basis to resolve issues.
Required to work flexible hours as required for production operations.
LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED: This position is located in Madison, SD.
