The Driver is responsible for safely transporting children to and from all programs and activities supported by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire while obeying all laws, driving regulations, and rules of conduct.
*Essential Job Functions:*
* Drive vehicles to specified destinations in accordance to transportation schedules and in compliance with traffic regulations.
* Ensure the vans or busses are in safe operating condition at all times.
* Provide children with transportation home from programs and activities supported by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire.
* Maintain order and security on the van or bus at all times.
* Record and report any complaints, delays, or accidents and handle all passenger emergencies or disruptions in a courteous and respectful manner.
* Park vehicles in appropriate parking spaces, loading, and unloading zones.
* Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of students or trips, hours worked, mileage, and fuel compensation.
* Help escort children to cross the road and enter buildings.
* Keep knowledge of, and administer first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.
* Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
* Secure busses and vans by closing doors, windows, and locking vehicle when not in use.
* Responsible for all other duties and tasks as assigned by the Transportation Manager.
*Education and Experience Requirements:*
* Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be over the age of 21.
* Candidates with a CDL and passenger endorsement are preferred, but not required.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire is willing to pay for drivers to obtain their CDL.
* Previous experience transporting children is preferred.
*Skills and Knowledge Requirements:*
* Must have excellent time management skills and reliability with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Must have excellent communication skills.
* Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, and work both independently and part of a team.
*Work Environment and Physical Requirements:*
* Constant hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination.
* Intermittent speaking, standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, reaching, low-level activity, and squatting.
* Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
* Frequent lifting of objects under 20 pounds, and occasional lifting of items up to 75 pounds.
* Indoor and outdoor work.
Extreme temperature in the summer and winter to be expected.
