The Team Lead will direct personnel in the maintenance of the Lincoln County Highway Department.
Responsibilities include building, repairing, and maintaining county roads and bridges through the use of manual and motorized equipment.
Examples of Duties Include: Plan and coordinate work for specific road and bridge projects and supervise crew members assigned to that project.
Assist the Operations Supervisor in identifying opportunities for employee improvement.
Be a safety advocate and attend ongoing training and safety classes.
Operate front-end loaders, patrol, tandem dump trucks, distributor, and other equipment as required to build and maintain roads and bridges along with snow removal equipment and apply sand-chemical mixtures to ice and snow-covered roadways.
Proactively check all county roads and bridges for repair and maintenance at least twice a month.
Install and maintain traffic control signing, pavement markings, delineators, and guardrails.
Maintain equipment by performing critical service work.
Patch potholes, edge failures, and any other necessary work to be completed on the roadway or bridge surface.
Repair and maintain culverts.
Perform gravel road maintenance.
Responsible for inventory usage and control.
Perform a variety of construction tasks where assigned and necessary to complete construction or maintenance work.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED plus three years in a similar work environment or comparable combination of education and experience.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the procedures and techniques used in highway and road maintenance operations; safe operation and precautions utilized in operating construction equipment.
Offers of employment are contingent upon the ability to attain a Commercial Class A Driver’s License (CDL) within 30 days of the hire date and the successful completion of a criminal background check, driving records check, and pre-employment drug test.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
This position is required to drive/operate a motor vehicle and is subject to the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements including vision and hearing.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in road construction and heavy equipment operator.
