The Quality Assurance manager oversees a preventative quality system, specification compliance, training and development, quality testing, labeling, complaint handling, and communication with plant personnel regarding quality program trends, issues, and opportunities according to established policy and procedures.
*Supervisory Responsibilities:* * This position oversees a QA team.
* Provides visible leadership and guidance to all quality staff to foster continuous improvements and best practices.
* Hires and trains quality assurance staff.
* Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
* Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
*Essential duties:* * Maintain company food safety & quality assurance programs.
Develop and lead implementation of technical plans, clearly defining the critical issues and approach to be used in resolving food safety issues.
Lead all corrective and preventive actions necessary as related to the identification of food safety issues.
* Ensure TVF adherence to GMP’s, Quality, and Food Safety requirements.
* Monitor for compliance to established SSOP’s.
Document infractions, corrective actions, and preventative action on SSOP’s.
Assure Corrective and Preventative action takes place in a timely manner.
* Work with production on any product discrepancies to assure proper trace back is maintained and meets food safety requirements.
* Assist with customer complaint investigation.
* Perform analysis on the incoming ingredients, record the results and report discrepancies.
* Responsible for tracking ingredient expiration dates.
* Provide feedback and corrective action recommendations to associates regarding quality/food safety and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) with courtesy and professionalism.
* Complete HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), SQF (Safe Quality Food) and USDA paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
* Perform a quality check of finished product(s); investigate product issues identified, review labels to identify any potential labeling issue and communicate necessary changes in a timely manner.
* Respond to questions presented while in production regarding product quality, food safety, chemical safety, product specification, or other quality related items.
* Maintain a safe work environment.
* Maintain current knowledge of USDA regulations.
* Directly responsible for implementation and maintenance of the food safety plan to ensure that all prerequisite programs, preventive controls, and critical control points perform within expected standards.
* Performs all third party, customer audits and inspections.
Seeks to establish constructive working relationships with inspectors and auditors.
* Responsible for reviewing results of internal facility and warehouse inspections.
Implements corrective and preventive actions for on time completion.
* Member of NTF Tech and Reg Committee.
*Required Skills and Abilities* * PCQI & SQF a plus; must be able to achieve within first 90-days * Analytical ability and problem-solving skills * Good written and verbal communication skills; must maintain professional relationships with internal and external contacts.
* Technical writing skills to create policies and audit reports.
* Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
* Good organization, prioritization, multi-tasking and attention to detail skills.
* Must have basic mathematical and literacy skills to read and document temperatures, weights, etc.

* Consistent and punctual attendance.
* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
* Bilingual in English/Spanish, English/Karen, or English/Somali preferred.
*Physical Abilities* * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
* Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
*Working conditions* * The primary duties of this position are performed primarily in an indoor environment and may include working in dusty and humid conditions, hot and cold temperatures, and hazards involving the use of equipment and hazardous chemicals and materials.
*Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Requirements:* * Bachelor’s Degree in food science or related field with 2-years of experience * OR a High School Diploma/GED with 5–8 years of experience in food quality/safety.
* Proven supervisory experience.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $80,000.
00 - $100,000.
