Wheelchair production 7:30am- 3:30pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  * Four days per week to direct all activities related to wheelchair manufacturing mainly dealing with making seating systems for a pediatric wheelchair that occur in the shop located inside the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
* Plan, schedule and supervise activities of trustee and inmates from South Dakota Prison on a daily basis.
* Develop and maintain accurate inventory for all parts used in manufacturing and refurbishing process.
Report inventory needs within the prison.
* Successfully complete all training requirements of South Dakota Department of Correction.
* Follow all safety procedures and promote safety among employees, inmates and volunteers.
* Regular and reliable attendance is required.
* Learn how to build seating systems for Hope Haven Kid Chairs including sewing.
*Qualifications: * * Excellent organization and documentation skills.
Good verbal and written communication and leadership skills.
* Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to acquire Class D license when required and be an insurable driver with our insurance company.
* Must have basic mechanical skills to operate power tools, including saws, and drills in manufacturing wheelchairs.
Ability to organize inventory in storage areas * Positive customer/vendor relations.
* Ability to pass a health assessment at the time of higher and ability to maintain up-to-date health assessment as required per regulations.
Knowledge of wheelchair and components.
* A mix of mental toughness and compassion to be able to control and supervise inmate workers according to SDSP Rules and Regulations.
* Negative drug screening.
Clearance from all applicable ground background checks as required by service standards.
*Physical Requirements: * * Requires physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
* Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
