Augustana University invites applications for a Director of Project Management for our Facility Services Department.
Under the general direction of the CFO & Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, this position directs the planning and administration of all construction activities, manages the organization, preparation and design for each project as well as the repair, construction, and renovation of the facilities.
· : Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for managing the university's facility projects, including renovations, new constructions, and sustainability initiatives.
o Work with appropriate university officials and outside resources to plan and develop any new building construction and any renovation or modification.
o Recommend and participate in the development of university policies and procedures related to the area.
o Lead by example, share daily responsibilities with staff to execute solutions.
· : Lead and supervise all aspects of facility projects from conception through completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
o Direct projects (e.
g.
site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance, etc.
) for the purpose of ensuring completion within established time frames, project design and budget.
o Inspect new construction, repair work, renovation projects, equipment, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently; specifications for major capital improvements are within local/state/federal regulations; and approving inspection reports and payment requests.
o Maintain and update the university's master facility plan annually.
o Keep abreast of all applicable safety regulations and building codes.
o Serve as project manager and work with appropriate university officials and outside resources to plan and develop any new building construction and any renovations or modifications.
o Oversee new construction and campus improvement projects, including planning, development of bid specs, monitoring construction work acceptance, etc.
o Oversee third-party vendors, approves payment and requisitions for supplies and equipment.
o Prepare sketches, cost estimates and descriptions for in-house repair or renovation projects; read and interprets blueprints, engineering/architectural drawings and schematics.
· : Manage, mentor, and develop a team of project managers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
o Supervise and coordinate the work of all assigned personnel work schedules, conducts performance evaluations for associated team members.
· : Act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders (faculty, staff, and administration) and external contractors or consultants, ensuring clear communication and stakeholder satisfaction.
· : Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety.
o Develop and facilitate appropriate programs of maintenance and repair of all university sites to include buildings, HVAC systems, water systems, waste water systems, contracted services, and state and local coding pertaining to each individual site.
o Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate programs of service of utilities and utility service systems throughout the university including electric, water, wastewater, and fossil fuels.
o Keep abreast of all applicable safety regulations and building codes.
· : Oversee the financial aspects of facility projects, including budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility.
· t: Identify and implement best practices in project management and facility services to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and effectiveness.
· Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
· A minimum of five (5) years of construction management experience in a public or private setting.
· A minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a large organizational operation including managing or working alongside the operation of HVAC, plumbing, industrial or commercial mechanical and electrical systems.
· More than five (5) years of experience managing multiple departments/activities in planning, programming, construction, and maintenance of facilities.
· Working knowledge of at least three (3) relevant trades (mechanical, electrical and plumbing, etc.
).
· Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects from inception to completion.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a diverse team.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and external partners.
· Knowledge of current trends in construction, sustainability, and facility management.
· Demonstrated experience with preparing and overseeing a large annual operating budget.
· Possess a wide degree of creativity and latitude of technical knowledge of all aspects of plant structures, maintenance, and repair.
