The Process Engineer Tooling Design & Machining position is a technical role overseeing tooling design and milling processes for global manufacturing operations.
As a process owner, individuals will evaluate and develop current capabilities and future needs.
This role will help develop a vision for equipment, tooling, software, and processes based on needs of production and the technology available in the industry.
Some travel is required to support all manufacturing locations, visit vendors, perform benchmarking, and attend trade shows.
What would I do as a Process Engineer Tooling Design & Machining? Be a key member of the process engineering team that supports global manufacturing through: Tooling design and prototyping.
Detailed design using 3D CAD software (Creo).
Statistical process controls.
Documentation and communication of the processes, and problem-solving efforts that you develop.
Work in a team centric environment that is continuously evolving our practices: Iterative development in Sprint based cycles.
Daily Stand-ups and Quarterly Planning Events.
Planful personal and technical growth and continued increases in contribution.
Utilize collaborative software (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Azure Devops, etc.
) for team communication and planning.
Seek and incorporate feedback from team members, stakeholders, and customers.
Leverage experience by asking insightful questions to help clarify the work while openly seeking input from others.
Leverage retrospectives and experiments in continuous improvement.
Use good judgment in difficult situations to make solid, timely decisions.
Troubleshoot and address escalations and improvement opportunities.
Leading Others through Influence: Develop the ability to act as an internal consultant in the areas of Subject Matter Expertise, specifically by leading projects and mentoring other project team members.
Manage large-scope projects either in-place in a focused factory or to impact multiple factories.
Developing and Sharing Technical Expertise: Build expertise through documentation, hands-on use, external training, and technical publications.
Actively seek knowledge through other methods as necessary, including suppliers, vendors, or internal contacts.
Consistently support escalations with the appropriate urgency as they arise.
Sourcing / Equipment Vendor Management: Identify capable, qualified equipment vendors.
Select equipment to meet manufacturing requirements.
Participate in or lead negotiations.
Perform business evaluations of vendor’s performance (product offering, payment, support, etc.
).
Evaluate the health and longevity of equipment to determine upgrade or replacement.
Build strong relationships with key business partners and suppliers.
Other duties as needed to complete work and processes on the team.
Technical Areas of Focus: Tooling and fixture design.
Milling and machining processes.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or similar degree program.
Experience with machining and milling processes preferred.
Experience with Creo and Windchill, or other similar CAD and PLM software, required.
Experience with Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.
Daktronics experience preferred.
General computer skills and Microsoft Office knowledge.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently or collaboratively on a team.
Effectively communicate with various business, manufacturing, and technical teams in a positive, professional manner.
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Ability to travel by air and ground.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Motor vehicle records will be checked.
