_ *JOB SUMMARY:* The Buyer Planner develops demand and capacity planning models related to materials and manpower to ensure production deadlines and customer requirements are met.
They closely monitor and analyze material, equipment, and labor requirements for Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP).
This position requires a strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
The Buyer Planner will purchase goods, services, and raw materials according to approved company policies and procedures.
Approximately sixty percent of this role is planning, and forty percent is purchasing.
*ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND DUTIES:* *Planning Requirements and Duties:* · Develop and/or maintain the demand and capacity planning model/tool/spreadsheet ensuring accuracy of inputs/outputs.
· Regularly review contract specifications, drawings and bills of material, sales orders, inventory levels and purchase orders, to fully understand requirements related to production.
· Actively participates in, or leads, SIOP activities ensuring development of production and material plans that meet revenue goals.
· Uses judgement and experience to anticipate risks to the plan and mitigate issues.
· Communicate frequently with sales, customer service, supply chain, production and inventory teams regarding production plan and status.
Provides timely communication of risks to site leadership.
· Regularly analyzes and reports on information related to inventory tracking, plan performance highlighting obstacles, and inventory reports.
*Buyer Requirements and Duties:* · Purchase goods, services, and raw materials according to the company’s policies and procedures.
· Coordinate with Supply Chain team and other managers to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
· Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
· Works with vendors to negotiate discounts.
· Ensure that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
· Assist with maintaining supplier files.
· Assist with supplier performance monitoring.
· Maintain pricing histories and other vendor records as required.
*General:* · Recommend, promote, and participate in, process improvement.
· Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
· Other duties as assigned.
*ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:* · High School Diploma or GED · AAS or BS in business, logistics, inventory management, or supply chain related field preferred · Minimum of 1 year manufacturing and planning experience preferred · Experience with MRP systems preferred · Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, along with general computer skills · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills · Strong verbal and written communication skills *ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* · Must have the ability to see, read, write, hear, and verbally communicate.
· Able to withstand prolonged periods of sitting/standing while working on a computer.
· Must be able to regularly lift, or exert force, up to 15-lbs, occasionally up to 30-lbs.
· Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
