Design Engineer

Design Engineer The Design Engineer position is responsible for design, development and detailing of hydraulic and mechanical systems and sub-systems for off road and vegetation management and forestry equipment for new product development programs and continuous improvement projects to achieve performance, efficiency, quality, reliability, financial, and schedule goals.
Mechanical Design Project Leadership Technical Support Continuous Improvement Mechanical Design Design, development and detailing of mechanical systems and sub-systems for new product development programs and continuous improvement projects to achieve performance, efficiency, quality, reliability, financial, and schedule goals.
Collaborate closely with external suppliers to specify, develop, and validate products.
Assess and mitigate design risks by scheduling and organizing design reviews and DFMEA's.
Propose new and innovative design concepts, inventions, patents, and opportunities for improvement.
Deliver Technical Support to the organization.
Utilize sound engineering principles to produce efficient and safe products from cradle to grave.
Develop industry leading products that exceed customer expectations.
Project Leadership Lead several projects simultaneously while achieving performance, efficiency, quality, reliability, financial, and schedule goals.
Technical Support Provide engineering support during production to solve technical issues.
Provide manufacturing with the necessary support to address day to day production needs and Lean initiatives related to the design of the product.
Address technical Customer Care issues as needed and respond in a matter that achieves complete satisfaction.
Cultivates open and free lines of communication with multiple departments so problems can be reported and addressed quickly.
Continuous Improvement Drive product improvements that will enhance customer satisfaction, reduce product costs, improve design for manufacturability and reduce warranty costs.
All other duties are performed as necessary.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field or equivalent experience.
Strong mechanical design experience designing and specifying structural components, linkages, and bearings.
Experience specifying hydraulic components including motors, actuators, hoses and manifolds in off road machinery.
Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and project leadership skills.
Proficiency with CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and familiarity with MS Office products.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate to all levels of the company.
Travel up to 10% to field sites to oversee and perform product development, gather VOC, and provide input into test and validation activities.
A self-starter with a proven track record with directing projects, good mechanical skills with hands-on aptitude, good trouble shooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills, proven ability to work with all levels of management and personnel.
