DIVISION: Physical Plant SUPERVISOR: Director of Physical Facilities BASIC FUNCTION: Full time, 40 hours per week with overtime potential.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible to help support the daily operation of the college facilities, grounds, and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required – High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and understand basic wiring schematics and building drawings.
Ability to problem-solve basic plumbing issues.
Class B CDL driver’s license or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred – Five years of related work experience in the electrical and or plumbing field.
Experience in HVAC troubleshooting Journeyman or Master Electrical license.
Journeyman or Master Plumbing/Mechanical license.
Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.

SPECIFIC MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Maintain safety and cleanliness of buildings and contents.
2.
Set up and take down classrooms, auditorium, and labs for special functions.
3.
Open and lock facilities and maintain security of buildings and their contents.
4.
PERFORM security checks on weekends, holidays, and as needed.
5.
Remove ice and snow from sidewalks, drives, etc.
6.
As assigned, prepare requisitions for supplies, materials, and equipment and an inventory of supplies.
7.
Prepare reports as needed.
8.
Maintain lawn and grounds (spray lawns, trees, and shrubs; fertilize; plant trees; haul rock; mow grass, etc.
).
9.
Install whiteboards, shelves, cabinets, etc.
10.
Perform minor functions – cleaning, hanging flags, trash removal, etc.
11.
Serve on college committees.
12.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC ELECTRICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in facilities.
2.
Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, works site directions, and blueprints.
3.
Motor and controls-trouble shooting.
4.
Fully comprehend electrical theory an NFPA70 National Electric Code.
5.
Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
6.
Perform general electrical maintenance.
7.
Safely operate hand and power tools related to the electrical field.
8.
Safely operate equipment (hand tools, back hoe, trenchers, etc.
) to dig trenches.
9.
Operate company vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.
10.
Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electrical or gas powered).
11.
Work on energized circuits and equipment with company management approval as outlined.
SPECIFIC PLUMBING RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Operate, service, and repair building mechanical system equipment, i.
e.
boilers, chillers, air handling units, air compressors, etc.
2.
Operate, service, repair, and install components on portable equipment.
3.
Operate, service, repair, replace components, and install building service fixtures and equipment, i.
e.
light fixtures, water coolers, bathroom fixtures, doors, hardware, etc.
4.
Perform tasks related to sheet metal, plumbing, heating, cooling, small carpentry projects, etc.
5.
Monitor, operate, record information, trouble shoot, and diagnose information from the energy management system.
