Position Responsibilities: Conduct transactions involved in the procurement of manufacturing materials, tools, supplies, services, etc.
, in accordance with approved requisitions and procedures.
Obtain quotations, and negotiate purchases within prescribed dollar limits, and under supervision with respect to prices, discounts, quantity, quality, date of delivery, etc.
Interview supplier representatives.
Responsible to manage inventory of assigned commodities to include not limited to; cycle counts, structure analysis, problem-solving of parts shortages, inventory excess, receiving and packaging issues, etc.
Assist with preliminary development of company purchasing activity, to assist Materials Manager on major purchasing projects as capital equipment, product components, etc.
Perform follow-up work on orders placed, to ensure supplier’s compliance with terms of purchase.
Contribute to the Cost Improvement Program by meeting or exceeding the annual goal.
Identify opportunities to eliminate expenses that do not add value to the process or product, and within the scope of authority of the position, implement the reduction.
Investigate supplier’s capability to furnish materials, finished parts or service performance, to develop adequate and reliable sources of supply.
Place forms, records, and correspondence in systematic file; locates, removes, and purges materials as necessary.
Participate in the development and operation of company programs such as IFS, Value Analysis, Kanban, and Just-In-Time Mfg.
Responsible to communicate and work with suppliers, quality engineers concerning quality issues pertaining to assigned commodities.
Maintain effective communication and harmonious working relations with all company personnel.
Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of Just-In-Time manufacturing principles, and MRP II systems.
Thorough knowledge and experience in purchasing practices/procedures with Inventory Management systems Experience and evident skill in negotiating business and/or purchasing contracts.
Working knowledge of manufacturing i.

, machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business/related field or equivalent work experience.
3-5 years’ experience in purchasing, supply chain, production planning or inventory control.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Working knowledge of MRP and MPS in an ERP environment desired; must be proficient in Google office products Work Environments CPIM certification or equivalent a plus.
The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection is mandatory.
The primary environment is a typical office environment.
This position is largely self-directed and requires an understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.
Individuals will be required to count, review and manage inventory.
They will need to sit or stand as needed and walk primarily with the manufacturing environment; reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, and may include lifting up to 25 pounds.
