How you'll contribute to the team:
As a Welder at Howe, you will possess a strong creative and artistic ability to custom fabricate and weld materials such as aluminum, steel, galvanized and stainless-still plates, angles, square tubing, etc.
You will use a variety of welding processes such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, or GTAW to complete fabrication projects and ensure each project is within specification and Howe quality standards.
Your day to day will involve preparing materials to be welded by safely grinding, cutting, drilling, and tapping materials both in the fabrication shop and in the field.
Our Welders are expected to properly maintain their tools and equipment, keep their work area clean and organized, ensure the safety of others by placing weld screen properly, and performing all other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to the table:
To be a successful Welder at Howe, you must have excellent attention to detail and be mechanically inclined.
You will use proper technique to lay weld beads of proper size and penetration, free of inclusions, undercut, and pitting.
Our Welders are great at following directions, working independently, communicating with other team members, and are able to conceptualize expectations of projects by reading and interpreting prints and drawings.
You may be required to weld in the field on active construction sites, so a valid driver's license is required.
How you'll qualify:
To qualify as a Pipe Welder, you MUST have at least 5 years experience in pipe welding and metal fabrication.
6g and stainless certified is strongly preferred, or able to obtain upon hire.
Must have pipe fitting experience.
You must demonstrate skills and knowledge of the trade, and have a good understanding of the materials and tools used in the industry.
A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education requirement.
What to expect in the shop & field:
Working in the welding and metal fabrication industry can be physically demanding.
As a Welder, you must have the physical strength to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, and have the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
Welders also must be able to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and on ladders or lifts for prolonged periods of time.
