Position Description: This is a traveling Intern position.
SDDOT seeks applicants with diverse construction experience and ability to manage a busy travel schedule as they perform construction testing and inspection duties.
The applicant will be based in Sioux Falls, but will require a minimum of four nights per week away from Sioux Falls.
The position covers projects in the middle 1/3 or upper 1/4 of the state and the applicant should expect to receive work direction from various project personnel.
SDDOT will pay per diem rates for meals and lodging.
A state vehicle will be provided.
Duties include: Coordinate with Contractors to conduct materials testing and inspections on state highway construction projects; Work with Project Engineers and Technicians to measure work for construction payments; Work outside in a construction setting.
Qualifications: Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
