IT Support Technician

POSITION: IT Support Technician RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Finance QUALIFICATIONS: Two years’ experience, or an Associates in Computer Science or MIS including LAN, WAN, and wireless administration and network operating systems in a Microsoft environment.
Experience installing, replacing and/or repairing computer (workstation and server) hardware and components.
Experience with phone systems, their components and basic system operation.
Job Purpose: To maintain and support IT/telecommunications systems and strategies in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Policies.
Responsibilities include installation, maintenance and support for computer hardware and software.
Minimal support of local and wide area network communications equipment (LAN and WAN) and telecommunications equipment.

Function: Maintain and support IT services.
Typical Tasks: Support end users with needs via email, phone, and desk side (can require travel).
Provide input in developing telecommunications/technology policies and procedures.
Assist in researching new technologies and make recommendations for those that would be beneficial to the Agency.
Assist in establishing procedures to secure data collection, input, backup, manipulation, and reporting.
Plan, oversee and execute the installation of computers, peripherals, and telecommunications equipment.
Troubleshoot and respond to user requests.
Assist in maintaining an inventory of all computer equipment with corresponding maintenance information for each.
Perform regular maintenance on computer equipment.
Obtain and coordinate service on computers and printers.
Report service costs in a timely manner.
Report bills pertaining to the purchasing and maintenance of hardware and software.
Train and support staff in the use of computers and/or software to meet job-related needs.
Attend and contribute to monthly IT discussions.
Maintain local server and monitor network security.
Troubleshoot various assistive technologies and device issues for people supported.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc.
Extended PC viewing and keyboarding required.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required to meet the operational needs of the Agency.
