Learn more About Daktronics! The Repair Center & Materials department is a fast-paced work environment that provides repair logistics and replacement parts to Daktronics customers worldwide.
Responsibilities in this department range from customer receipts to factory receipts and from shipment of small parts to shipment of freight.
Three major service value streams are supported by this area: Repair Services in which the Inventory group feeds the repair center piece parts, replacement parts, and assemblies to repair; Parts in Stock Value Stream which provides exchange and replacement assemblies directly to customers, and Field Services which houses common repair components in their van stock.
All three of these value streams have significant impact on Daktronics customers each day and depend upon excellent processes and error free performance from the Service Shipping Group.
Regularly complete leader standard work tasks including: Audit processes by working with employees on following and improving standard work.
Assist with planning and preparing the area for the day.
Lead tier 1 startup meeting to communicate performance and plan to team and facilitate team discussions and participate in tier 2 meetings.
Attend Gemba walks with supervisor to maintain current standards and identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure that employees are completing work and following process documentation.
Provide effective leadership including: Facilitate employee training by planning their training and using a combination of Learning Center videos, Job Instruction, Skills/Training Matrix, and hands on coaching to effectively train employees in the area.
Foster teamwork and self-improvement through effective communication with employees on individual and team performance by setting clear expectations and providing timely positive and corrective feedback.
Inform supervisor of employee performance and attendance on a timely and regular basis.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all information associated with Daktronics responsibilities.
Regularly engage in continuous improvement including: Daily problem solving on issues that hinder production safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
Engage the team both individually and as a group within the area.
Experiment and implement employees’ ideas for improvement, including 2 Second Lean.
Participate in larger scale improvement projects and factory initiatives when assigned.
Work with supervisor, process engineers/technicians, and/or designers to improve procedures and processes.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate new processes or techniques.
Assist in writing standard procedures.
Assist in evaluating and documenting quality issues.
Ability to bring forward ideas for continuous improvement.
Help provide a safe work environment by: Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed during the shift and process auditing.
Work with the team to identify critical safe behaviors and building them to habit strength.
Monitor the area for hazards and correcting or escalating them when discovered.
Assist with investigating safety incidents and implementing corrective measures.
Help meet customers’ expectations by: Work with the team to effectively correct/eliminate quality defects.
Monitor progress and adjust plan in order to meet goals.
Fill in for staff when absent from area and perform work as necessary to meet goals.
Escalate issues in a timely manner and to the appropriate support and leadership personnel.
Perform other dues as assigned to meet customer needs.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required.
Post high school continuing education is preferred.
Materials experience is preferred.
Ability to train and motivate employees and ability to demonstrate leadership.
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to learn quickly.
Demonstrated ability to effectively handle changing priorities and ability to multi-task.
Successfully participate as a member of a team.
Strong computer and keyboarding skills required.
Ability to operate a forklift as needed.
Training will be provided.
Physical requirements include the ability to: Distinguish and identify wire and paint colors.
Work with odors (solder/paint/solvent, manufacturing odors).
Ability to lift and carry heavy (up to 50lbs) and/or awkward items.
Stand or sit for the full shift and have full range of motion (including but not limited to bending and lifting) required to perform the job functions.
Must have steady hand-eye coordination.
Able to read fine print with or without correction.
Fluent in English, written and verbal.
Ability to work overtime as necessary.
