How you'll contribute to the team: The Fire Protection Foreman is tasked with overseeing the preparation, fabrication, and installation of fire sprinkler systems for commercial clients, while also leading and mentoring apprentices and licensed sprinkler fitters.
Responsibilities include attending trade coordination meetings to minimize conflicts, motivating employees to meet production goals, designing and laying out work, reading blueprints, and promoting safety and teamwork.
Additionally, the Foreman provides feedback on employee performance, collaborates with project managers, and ensures adherence to industry standards and regulations.
What you'll bring to the table: Fire Protection Foreman are leaders out in the field, and as such you'll need to be capable of motivating and guiding team members to accomplish tasks.
You'll have an excellent understanding of the NFPA Code, and possess great communication skills.
A professional appearance is always expected at Howe.
You will also need to possess a valid driver's license to commute to and from job sites as needed.
How you'll qualify: The ideal Fire Protection Foreman will have at least 5 years of related field experience and will demonstrate strong skills and knowledge of the trade.
You'll stand out as a Foreman by having NICET Certifications, a Minnesota or South Dakota state Journeyman's license, and/or an Iowa Sprinkler Fitter's license.
Foremen are expected to obtain additional training and education as required.
A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement.
What to expect in the field: Working in the Fire Protection industry can be physically demanding.
As a Fire Protection Foreman, you must have the physical strength to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, and have the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
Foremen must also be able to work at height, on ladders or lifts, and in all weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
