DESCRIPTION: Primarily responsible for training and supervising inmates on HVAC functions of the Governor’s Houses in South Dakota.
The Governor’s House Program is a program funded by SD Housing, in which prison inmates at the Mike Durfee State Prison build low-cost, low-maintenance, energy efficient homes to income qualified individuals and families.
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must possess excellent customer service and HVAC installation experience; experience working with a variety of clients; understand basic math functions and calculations; the ability to lift and carry heavy objects; knowledge of building codes and on-the-job safety; and the ability to communicate professionally.
Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED and minimum three years of experience in the HVAC field which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties.
Being a licensed HVAC technician is not necessary, but helpful.
Plumbing experience or license is also helpful.
Candidate would be working under a licensed contractor and may be eligible to gain apprenticeship hours while performing duties.
Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and pass an extensive background check for SD Department of Corrections.
LOCATION: Mike Durfee State Prison, Springfield, SD
STARTING SALARY: $26.
82 to $30.
17 per hour depending upon experience.
